TIPS Member Recognized as a Role Model for Turks

Image

TIPS member Inspector Durmus Alper Camlibel who is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at the School of Politics and Economics, Claremont Graduate University (CGU) has been awarded a commendation letter by Dr. Sallama Shaker, Ph.D. who is former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador for Egypt. The letter, addressed to the Director General of the Turkish National Police, Governor O uz Ka an Köksal was written to document Camlibel’s excellent progress in the Ph.D. program at CGU. In the letter, Dr. Shaker described Inspector Camlibel as the best possible role model of a Turkish citizen. Dr. Shaker also praised Camlibel by saying that “while many of the students had some knowledge of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as a historical figure, Alper introduced examples that demonstrated the enduring legacy of Ataturk in modern-day Turkey.”

Dr. Shaker concluded her letter with these words: “Alper is a dedicated student who combines theory with practice. His professors in Comparative Politics, Public Policy and the American Institutional System have told me that Alper carries himself in a similar manner in their classes and that they enjoy having him in their classes because of his maturity, decent relations with his classmates and contributions to discussion. I cannot speak highly enough about Alper’s performance both in the classroom and as a member of the Claremont Graduate Community. I believe that the Government of Turkey and the Turkish National Police have much to be proud of in Alper’s behavior and accomplishments at CGU.”
